I started dabbling in the art in 2007 when my mother-in-law broke a 3 foot vase. The colors were teal and burgundy and were quite beautiful. She was going to throw it away and asked if I wanted it for anything. I had already been thinking about trying mosaic so I thought, why not? Thus the journey began and I started researching methods, materials, substrates (backers), and tools. I was overwhelmed. I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a coaster set. I guess you could say, the rest is history!

I like to think of my creations as a beacon of light and an expression of love. As I craft each piece, I immerse myself in the process. I pour my heart into it. I am reminded as I work on cutting the pieces, that we are all broken in one way or the other. Sometimes we have to be shattered before we can be used. It takes a lot of broken imperfect pieces to create a work of art. May I encourage you to understand that every broken piece of you makes you just that, a work of art! Much love from me to you!
I am self-taught, learning through trial and error! I began by making gifts for family and friends. Each piece I created was a different technique or style but was created specifically for that person. When I found some new medium or technique, I decided to try it! Before long, I was asked to do things as gifts for others. You will be able to view some of the past projects as they are added to the site. I will be adding to the page as more are created or you can visit my facebook page using links below.
A mosaic is a pattern or image made of small regular or irregular pieces of colored stone, glass or ceramic, held in place by plaster/mortar. My passion is to create a piece of art that compliments the passion of the owner. These pieces have been among my most popular. Knowing a little about the recipient of a piece helps me connect with the new owner.
Each piece of ceramic tile is hand cut, placed and glued. Unlike a jigsaw puzzle, I get to cut the pieces to fit! I never was one to color in the lines or march to someone else's drum!
Each work is Made with Love, Especially for you!
These were crafted for a musician. Music is an international language. All over the world, scores are written. Any musician in any country across the globe can pick up a sheet of music and know exactly what is written. The same is true with a smile, a kind word or good deed.
Whatever comes our way, may we all music to the world wherever we go.

I love a challenge!
Meet Willow! He belonged to my nephew. As I have mentioned, I have discovered that my driving passion in creating comes easiest to me when I have a subject that is special to a person.
I took a photo, cut away the "white noise" and added a background. This was my lesson in the various shades of white. So far, this has been one of the most challenging! Crafted with vitreous tile and brick.
My biggest take away in this was that we are all different. Up close, we see people as "all the same". It's when we see them side by side, we are unique individuals that lend our color to the world giving depth to the picture as a whole.

This has been one of my favorite designs to create! 30" diameter.
Each piece was cut on the wet saw (except the outer edge). All materials were recycled material. Porcelain tile and aquarium rock.
When in doubt, look up. Be true to yourself and follow your true North.

May the road rise up to meet you
The wind be always at your back.....
The Sunshine warm upon your face...
The rains fall soft upon your fields...
and until we meet again

Part of the enjoyment I get is the hunt for materials.
This substrate is rock found at a local creek. The lettering is
from scrap glass acquired from a local stained glass artist. This
was a wedding gift

We may think we are to do much in this world but, we can always be a
beacon of hope and love, shining a light for others to find their way out
of the darkness.
Go Light the World!

Although this gem is not a mosaic in a literal sense, as I mentioned on the materials page, I love recycling. This shelf is a box spring frame with pallet wood shelves. Tiles are stored in plastic mayo, peanut butter, snack jars, dog food containers Some of my substrates are cabinet door samples.
Just remember, we are all broken but an be made into something useful and beautiful!
